What We Do
The Epicenter continually develops new programmatic opportunities to offer faculty and students engaging ways to support entrepreneurship and innovation learning in undergraduate engineering education.
Student Ambassadors Program
The Epicenter is teaming up with NCIIA to provide new opportunities for students across the country, as part of the Student Ambassadors program. Student ambassadors catalyze innovation on their home campuses, by holding events and creating networks that inspire and foster student entrepreneurship. Student ambassadors also educate and encourage peers to become involved in additional program offerings from the Epicenter and NCIIA.
Sparks
Sparks are iconic experiences that engage faculty and students that are new to entrepreneurship and innovation. Taking place both regionally and nationwide, Spark events build excitement around the Epicenter mission, encouraging faculty and students to take advantage of existing resources and to become part of a vibrant community driving change in undergraduate engineering education.
Faculty Development Workshops
Epicenter Faculty Development Workshops are hands-on experiences that expose faculty to new tools, approaches and methodologies for delivering experiential innovation and entrepreneurship programs and initiatives. Operated by our key partner, NCIIA, Epicenter workshops aim at introducing best practices on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship education into existing engineering courses, as well as to developing new courses from scratch. Workshops focus on different topics of interest such as sustainability and customer development. Learn more about the Lean LaunchPad Educators Program at UC Berkeley Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, 2013.
Conferences
The Epicenter holds two annual conferences: the Epicenter Retreat in the Fall and the NCIIA OPEN Conference in the Spring. These events bring together faculty who are teaching entrepreneurship and innovation to engineering students in order to share and be exposed to a wide range of perspectives, strategies for teaching, assessment and program development. They also provide the opportunity to participate in hands-on collaborative sessions. Learn more about the Epicenter Retreat, which took place Sept. 30 - Oct. 3, 2012, and the NCIIA OPEN Conference, which will take place March 22-23, 2013.
Research Workshops
Epicenter Research Workshops connect leading researchers in engineering and entrepreneurship education, to catalyze conversations and gain insights about the important questions that should be explored at the intersection of the two fields.
